Appsheet can be a handy tool for transforming spreadsheets into ready-to-use apps for your coworkers. Though using spreadsheets as databases is not ideal, sometimes it can be useful to do this as a quick temporary tool for processes that are already running while you work on a more permanent solution.
We’ll teach you how to integrate an Appsheet app to a dashboard so you can integrate these quick fixes into your other processes to run things as smoothly as possible.
Time to build the tool ⏱:
- 1min on average.
Costs to test 💰:
- Appsheet ($0 up to 10 users) + Jestor ($0 under 200 actions/mo) = $0.00*
*costs may vary according to different providers pricing changes.
2 Steps to Add an Appsheet app to a dashboard
1. Get the ID for your app.
Go to one of your apps in Appsheet. Now, click on the “Open in tab” icon on the top right (just above the app preview). This will open your app in a new tab. Now, copy the URL of this new tab.
Tip: your app must be public for the embedding to work. You can do this by going into the Security settings on the left menu, disabling required sign-in and confirming the data is public. Read Appsheets instructions to understand how public data works and whether it’s viable for you.
2. Create an app to see the app.
- Embedded: click on the + icon, then Embedded. Name it “App”, then paste the URL you got in step one.
Resize the component to your liking and save.
Now you will have an embedded version of the app you built in Appsheet directly in your dashboard! That can be quite handy for situations where the dashboard provides all the info you need to operate the app, so you don’t need to keep jumping between platforms. You can also keep integrating solutions to make communication between them even more seamlessly if you’d like!
